Top-of-mind awareness (or TOMA), is a pretty simple concept. When customers are asked which products or brands come to mind first when a particular business sector is mentioned, the one they choose is at their “top of mind”.
With the right marketing you will be first on your customer’s mind when they’re ready to make a purchase – no matter the size of your business. If you’re not in front of your customer as much as possible then your competitor’s messages will take your place in the customers mind.
New customers come from two places only. Either you steal them from your competition or you create a new customer who has never been a customer before.
Loyal customers may remember you but but the rank and file customers will go to the places they hear about most often.
